Newfren was born in Turin at the end of the 1950s when A. Barbero discovered and applied a new revolutionary glue that eliminated the use of rivets for fixing the friction material on the castings of the brake shoes. He also patents the anti-water friction material. Motorcycles in the 60s/70s were equipped with cast iron brake discs and the first brake pads appeared on the market; A. Barbero introduces the production of brake pads and subsequently, with his son Valter Barbero, they begin the study of the range of Newfren brake discs. In 2000, Newfren moves its headquarters from Turin to Ciriè, where it occupies an area of 10,000 m2. At the same time, Newfren opens another production site in Tunisia which occupies an area of 3,000 m2: there all the semi-finished products from Turin and the interland.
